It's always been the case that some people are more sensitive to the energies of magic in the air around them. As he usually tells it, Randolph started seeing strange things around himself when he was fourteen. Naturally able to pierce illusion magic--especially fae glamours and masks--he got deep into mythology and folklore in order to understand what he was seeing and reassure himself he wasn't crazy.

Now, Randolph makes himself a resource to the occult community, sharing the knowledge he's gained with those who need it: others drawn unwillingly into the world of the supernatural, monster hunters, even petty dabblers. He charges a pretty penny for his expertise, but his day job is as a tattoo artist. His knowledge of occult symbols has come in handy more than once in that line of work.

The secret he holds closest to his chest is this: he's not human at all--he's actually a fetch, a magical construct held together with fae magic, used to replace someone stolen by the True Fae. But he does a very good job of pretending he's a real boy, most of the time.
